With a record lift of 405 kg, weightlifting champion Nooh Dastagir Butt won the gold medal for Pakistan in the Commonwealth Games 2022. It was Pakistan’s first gold medal in any of the competitions taking place in Birmingham, England.

When Butt performed his snatch, which involved lifting 173 pounds, the new Commonwealth Games record was established. Butt also set a new record for clean and jerk lifts by lifting 232 kilogrammes. He finished with a total of 405 kilogrammes, a new CWG record. Butt’s flyover should be named after him, according to a Twitterati who spoke with the prime minister about the matter. “Or a dam?” the prime minister responded. It’s not clear if PM Shehbaz meant it when he joked about naming a dam after Butt.

Pakistan Cricket on Twitter: "Congratulations to weightlifter Mohammad Nooh Dastagir Butt for winning Pakistan's first 🏅 with a #CWG2022 record total lift of 405kg in men's +109kg event. Wishing you more success
