The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed why it chose right-arm bowler Hasan Ali for the T20I series against Ireland and England. At a news conference in Lahore, PCB selector Wahab Riaz claimed Hasan will be Haris Rauf’s backup in the forthcoming matches. Hasan was in our T20I World Cup 2024 preparations. Why did PCB choose Hassan Ali for England, Ireland tours?
The board named the national team’s 18-man selection for the crucial tours before of the T20I World Cup 2024 earlier in the day. After facing Ireland in a three-match T20I series from May 10 to 14, the Men in Green will head to England for a four-match series starting May 22.
After a three-day training camp in Lahore from May 4 to 6, the captain Babar Azam-led team will go for Dublin, Ireland on May 7. So, Riaz on the pacer’s future: “Haris Rauf will be our first choice if he has recovered before the England series. Also, Rauf will be replaced by Hasan if he is unfit.
According to ESPNCricinfo, Hasan last played for the national team in T20Is in September 2022 against Sri Lanka. Thus, conceding 25 runs in three overs without taking a wicket. Thus, the pacer last played for Green Shirts against New Zealand in November 2023.
This fast bowler has only played one Test for the national team this year, in January against Australia.
