The most-anticipated match in the T20 World Cup 2024 is between Pakistan and India. Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh doesn’t like the idea of drop-in tracks.
World Cup 2024: Why does Harbhajan Singh dislike ‘drop-in’ pitches for Pak vs. India?
The exciting game is set to take place on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Eight World Cup games will be held in New York, with two games between Pakistan and India. Up to 10 pitches came to New York, and the work of setting them up began earlier this month.
However, Harbhajan was angry about the choice and said that no one knows how those pitches will act. He said that not even the people who put together the pitches would be able to predict how it would act.
The great Indian player, who was on the Blues team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup, stressed how important warm-up games were because that’s the only way to know how the pitches would play.
“Pits at Nassau Cricket Stadium aren’t known to anyone real well.” Someone in charge of the pitch might not even know how many times it will run. How hot would it be if you put in that much water? How much bounce does it have?” Harbhajan said this at a press meeting put together by Star Sports.
“Once those practice games are over, we’ll know how the field feels.” Then we can think about how to put them together. Before we knew that, we couldn’t say anything about team combos.
Don’t forget that the stadium is still being built because it will be used for eight World Cup games in New York. The first game will be between Sri Lanka and South Africa, who won the 2014 T20 World Cup. The venue could hold more than 34,000 people.
