Kapp used foul words and waved toward the pavilion after removing Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu in the 13th over. Kapp, whose first offense in 24 months, received one demerit point. So, Kapp admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Shandre Fritz of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees and levelled by on-field umpires Jacqueline Williams, Thomas Mokorosi, Kerrin Klaaste, and Lauren Agenbag, so no hearing was needed. After winning the T20I series 2-1, Sri Lanka won their first bilateral series over South Africa in any format in the third match.

South Africa reached 155/6 thanks to Laura Wolvaardt’s half-century and Nadine de Klerk’s unbeaten 25-ball 44. Also, Athapaththu (73 off 46) and Harshitha Samarawickrama put up a 97-run stand after Sri Lanka lost Vishmi Gunaratne early. After dismissing the opposition skipper, South Africa threatened a comeback, but Harshitha led her team home with a controlled, unbroken 54 off 43 balls. The ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 ODI series begins on Tuesday, April 9.
