On Friday, The News reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will report directly to the Prime Minister’s Office. Plans for PCB-PM Office direct connection. Instead of the Ministry for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC). According to the journal, a summary has been finalized for approval by the necessary authorities, after which the board will no longer answer to the ministry.

Since the 2014 PCB Constitution approval and reinstatement, the ministry has been the only link between the prime minister and the board. A direct relationship or communication is considered unconstitutional. Recently, one of the former secretaries advised PCB authorities that direct interaction with the PM Office would violate the constitution.
The ministry never wants PCB officials to contact the PM office directly. The secretary ministry of the IPC is on the PCB Board of Governors to keep it informed of PCB developments. However, PCB BoG may reduce its size to nine or add a PM official.
The News learned that former BoG members had campaigned to keep the ministry out of PCB affairs. Former Board members told the current board members that the ministry should not bridge the PCB and PM Offices. They advised taking appropriate action.
The competent authorities have ordered a summary that removes the ministry as a link between the Patron and the PM. Who would answer to the National Assembly/Senate or Standing Committees for PCB information is unclear.
Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) will likely be required to provide information or clarifications to Parliamentarians about the board’s operations. The PCB would directly interact with Parliament and Standing Committees.
“A summary is being forwarded for the competent authorities’ approval after which the PCB would not be answerable to the ministry. Any more as it is the Prime Minister’s Office that would directly deal with it,” a ministry source told the publication.
