New Zealand to tour Bangladesh after a 10-year break

The Blackcaps will make their long-awaited return to Bangladesh for a split ODI and Test series there. So, this will be the first such match since 2013. Before the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, the Bangladesh Cricket Board unveiled the schedule for New Zealand’s eagerly anticipated tour. Thus, it includes three ODIs.

For both teams, the white-ball series would be a crucial part of their preparations for the main event. Also, a two-match Test series that is a part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle will make up the tour’s second leg. Also, the red-ball battles will take place in November and December, following the World Cup.

The first of the three ODIs will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on September 21, signalling the start of the tour. The Test series is slated to begin in late November after the World Cup is over. Thus, the locations of the two Tests will be revealed later. Finalists for the 2019 World Cup On October 5, the first day of the CWC23, New Zealand will play the defending champions England in Ahmedabad.

On October 7, Bangladesh will face Afghanistan at the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala to start their World Cup campaign.

Itinerary of New Zealand tour of Bangladesh: 

  • 1st ODI: 21 September, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur
  • 2nd ODI: 23 September, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur
  • 3rd ODI: 26 September, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur
  • 1st Test: 28 November to 2 December, TBC
  • 2nd Test: 6 to 10 December, TBC
