For the planned ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has deliberately suggested that the Indian cricket team travel less when they are in Pakistan.
Champions Trophy 2025: PCB advices ‘least travelling plan’ for India
The PCB proposes to hold all of the group matches featuring the Indian team in a single city. The PCB gave the International Cricket Council (ICC) a tentative schedule of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 last week.
Every team that is competing will have a match scheduled at one of three Pakistani locations: Karachi, Lahore, or Rawalpindi. Reliable insiders informed Geo News that the PCB’s suggestion is intended to simplify logistical operations.
Though a final choice would be determined after ICC receives input from the participating boards on the draft schedule. Lahore is most likely to host India’s all-group matches. Whether or not the Indian squad will be touring Pakistan for the big tournament is yet unknown. Saying anything at this point will be premature, an Indian source said to this correspondent.
“We will know only around later this year the mood of the Indian government regarding relations with Pakistan. Any decision on touring Pakistan will be around the proposed tour only, when the BCCI seeks government approval,” the insider said.
The PCB continues to advance with its preparations and is optimistic about all teams, including India, competing in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 despite the current concerns.
