On Wednesday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that Naseem Shah will not be able to play in the Asia Cup. Right-arm fast bowler Zaman Khan will replace him in Pakistan’s 17-player team for the ongoing Men’s ODI Asia Cup 2023. According to the board, Naseem hurt his right shoulder when Pakistan played India in the Super 4 match. They also said that the team’s medical staff is watching Shah because the Cricket World Cup 2023 starts next month.

Haris Rauf was also hurt during the match against India, so he didn’t bowl when play started again on the spare day. When asked about the bowler, the PCB said he was doing well after feeling pain in his right side on the first day of the match. Team doctor Sohail Saleem said, “These two fast bowlers are our strengths, and the team’s medical panel will give them the best care possible before the very important World Cup.”
As a safety step after the injuries, Pakistan called up Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan as backups. Since then, Zaman joined the team this morning and will train with the rest at the RPICS tonight. Sri Lanka will be Pakistan’s next and final opponent in the Super Four. India is the only team to have won both Super Four games. They beat Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
With two wins out of two, the Blues have made it to the event’s final. On the other hand, both Sri Lanka and Pakistan have won one Super Four match and lost the other. Sri Lanka and Pakistan beat Bangladesh, but Sri Lanka’s net run rate (NRR) is slightly better than Pakistan’s. After losing to India by 228 runs, Pakistan’s NRR dropped to -1.892. Bangladesh can no longer make it to the final because they lost both games.
