The Indian cricket board (BCCI) said on Monday that KL Rahul will not be able to play in the third test against England because he failed a fitness test. Devdutt Padikkal has been added to the team to replace Rahul. Rahul missed the second test of the five-match series because he was hurt.
KL Rahul fitness kept him out of the third England test
He has played 50 tests for India and got eight hundred. “Mr. Rahul has reached 90 per cent of match fitness and is progressing well under the supervision of the BCCI medical team,” the BCCI stated in a statement. “He will continue his recovery process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to be completely match-fit for the fourth and fifth test.”
Rahul is the second important Indian batter who won’t be playing in the third test. Virat Kohli also pulled out of the series for personal reasons, so Rahul is the second such player. England’s Jack Leach will also miss the rest of the match because he hurt his knee.
Padikkal has replaced Rahul in the team. He has played for India in T20 cricket, but not yet in a test match. As of Thursday, the third test is still tied 1-1 between India and England. It will be played in Rajkot.
