The International Cricket Council (ICC), which is in charge of cricket, said on Monday that there was no longer any doubt about Pakistan’s involvement in the most-anticipated ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 because India finally gave visas to the Pakistan team. The ICC confirmed it after people said that getting visas was taking too long.
India issues visas to Pakistan team for World Cup 2023
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wrote to the governing body to report that a delay in getting visas had made it hard for the team to get ready for the big event across the border. Umar Farooq, a spokesman for the PCB, told Reuters that they have been told to pick up their papers at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
India and Pakistan have stopped playing each other in bilateral cricket because their political relationships have gotten worse. They now only play each other in multi-team tournaments like the World Cup and Asia Cup. Earlier, in a strong statement, Farooq spoke out against what he called the “unfair treatment” of a Pakistan team that is set to arrive in India on Wednesday.
“It has taken a very long time for the Pakistan team to get clearance and Indian visas for the ICC World Cup,” Farooq said in the statement.
“We wrote to the ICC to tell them how we felt about how Pakistan was being treated unfairly and to remind them of their responsibilities for the World Cup.
“It’s too bad that the Pakistan team has to deal with uncertainty right before the big tournament.”
Pakistan will play two warm-up games before facing the Netherlands in their first World Cup game on October 6. On Oct. 14, India and Pakistan will play a match in Ahmedabad that is sure to be exciting. India didn’t go to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, which was held from August 30 to September 17. Instead, their games were held in Sri Lanka.
