Amid controversy over the Asia Cup schedule, the current head of the Indian Premier League, Arun Dhumal, appears to have put the matter to rest by confirming that the team will play Pakistan in Sri Lanka. The Asia Cup 2023 will be held in Pakistan. But India will not go there to play. Instead, all of India’s games will be played on the island of Sri Lanka.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah met with Pakistan Cricket Board representative head Zaka Ashraf, and the two agreed to the settlement. Dhumal claims that four of the continental tournament’s games will be played in Pakistan, while the remaining games will be in Sri Lanka. According to the report, India and Pakistan will likely meet again at Dambulla. Nepal will be Pakistan’s sole home opponent this year.
Afghanistan will play Bangladesh, and Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka. Also, Sri Lanka will play Afghanistan in the other three matches. Since Bangladesh previously hosted the continental competition in 2016, this is the first time the Asia Cup has been held in the subcontinent. Then, the United Arab Emirates has hosted the 2018 and 2022 tournaments.
