England Cancels Pakistan Tour For PAK-ENG Series
On Monday, 20th September 2021, the England Cricket Board (ECB) declared that it had dropped its tour to Pakistan. Thus this tour was canceled right after New Zealand canceled its tour to Pakistan after 18 years. Therefore, the tour to Pakistan by England and Newzealand was canceled due to “security” concerns.
Pakistan strived and prepared a lot for these two tours of Newzealand and England cricket teams. Also, it is very disappointing and embarrassing for Pakistan that both countries dropped their plans to come to Pakistan for such an important series. Also, these recent cancellations will seriously affect the cricket of Pakistan. According to the officials, these series among PAK, NZ, and ENG would have been truly beneficial. Official Statements
Expressing regret, ECB said, “we understand that this decision will be a significant. disappointment to the PCB. They have worked tirelessly to host the return of international cricket in their country.”
“The ECB Board convened this weekend to discuss these extra. England Women’s and Men’s games in Pakistan. we can confirm that the Board has reluctantly decided to withdraw both teams from the October trip.” the board said in a statement.
“We know there are increasing concerns about travelling to the region. believe that going ahead will add further pressure to a playing group who have already coped. with a long period of operating in restricted COVID environments,” the statement added.
“We are sincerely sorry for the impact. this will have on cricket in Pakistan. emphasise an ongoing commitment to our main touring plans there for 2022,” it added.
