Kylian Mbappé will join Real Madrid this summer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) expires, citing unnamed sources. CNN suggested that Mbappé could join the Spanish giants, but he stayed in Paris. Next week, Mbappé is scheduled to inform PSG and Real Madrid of his decision, according to ESPN.
Does Kylian Mbappé finally join Real Madrid?
The 25-year-old announced last year that he will not renew his PSG contract, which expires at the end of the 2023-24 season and allows him to depart for free. He can now sign a pre-contract with a new club. The legendary French striker gave his World Cup winnings, possibly up to $500,000, to Premiers de Cordée, a nonprofit that helps disabled youngsters enjoy sports.
Despite rumors of his departure for Madrid in 2022, the president called him to stay. “I never imagined I’ll talk with the president about my career, so it’s something crazy, really crazy,” Mbappé told The New York Times. “He said, ‘I want you to stay. I want you to stay. You’re vital to the nation. Real Madrid has had David Beckham, Ronaldo Nazário, Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kaká, establishing their top-tier status.
At 13, Mbappé was called up by Real Madrid and has been a regular target. Los Merengues sporting director Zidane was pleased by the precocious youth and wanted to see more. Mbappé told The Players’ Tribune, “My father received a call from someone at Real Madrid, inviting me to come to Spain for a training session over the holiday break. I was shocked when they told my father, ‘Zidane would like to visit your son.’”
