Afridi’s comments came after the results of the election on February 8 caused protests across the country by many political groups. Because he was a famous cricket player, the former star player often got attention when he spoke out about politics.

In March 2022, he asked that the terms of at least one chosen government be finished. He said that while the opposition was planning to remove Imran Khan as prime minister. It’s been 74 years since Pakistan got its freedom. Afridi said, “For God’s sake, let at least one elected government finish its constitutional term.”

A lot of people didn’t like it when the former cricket player praised the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on becoming prime minister after the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was removed from power.
