Mohammed Rizwan, who captained Sultans to their third consecutive PSL final, was excited for the big match but didn’t let it affect him. We play the fourth final straight. Multan Sultans, the former champions, became the first club to qualify for the Playoffs in PSL 9. The Sultans defeated Quetta Gladiators in their last group-stage encounter to finish first with 14 points in 10 matches. After defeating Peshawar Zalmi in the Qualifier, the 2021 champions advanced to the final. Islamabad United, the two-time champions, started poorly but recovered to win. In their final match, they beat Sultans to qualify for the Playoffs. The United then defeated Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi in two straight knockout matches to reach the PSL 9 final.
