This past Tuesday, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan tied skipper Babar Azam for the fastest time to 2,000 runs in Twenty20 Internationals. The English cricket team capped off a 17-year absence from Pakistan with a six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the opening Twenty20 International of a seven-match series in Karachi on Tuesday.
Though Pakistan’s opening batsman Mohammad Rizwan hit 68 off 46 to assist his team set a target of 158, England’s opening batsman Alex Hales crushed the dreams of Pakistani fans by securing victory. Rizwan played a 68-run innings in his 52nd T20 encounter, tying Babar for the fastest player to reach 2,000 runs in T20.
Before this, the previous record holder was Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, who needed 56 Twenty20 Internationals to reach 2,000 runs. Babar Azam, captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, accomplished this feat in 52 matches.
