Islamabad United won the toss and bowled first against Lahore Qalandars in the ninth PSL opener at the Gaddafi Stadium. A lavish opening ceremony preceded the contest. The crowd was captivated by Arif Lahore and his son, Ali Zafar, Aima Baig, and Noori band.
PSL 9 opening match: Islamabad United VS Lahore Qalandars
Natasha Baig and Leo Twins performed the National Anthem soulfully at the Gaddafi stadium, illuminated by lasers and pyrotechnics.
The PSL 9 will feature 34 matches in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Nine matches will be played in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, including five Qalandars matches at home. Also, five Multan Sultans matches will be played at the scenic Multan Cricket Stadium. Thus, the league opener will be held in Lahore and Multan from 17–27 February before moving to Karachi and Rawalpindi.
From 2-10 March, Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi will host nine matches, five of which will feature Islamabad United. Quetta Gladiators will play three matches at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, while Peshawar Zalmi will play four of their 10 matches there.
So, Karachi’s National Bank Stadium will host 11 matches, including the Grand Final on 18 March. Quetta Gladiators will play at least three matches at the National Bank Stadium, while Karachi Kings must play five.
