The Quetta Gladiators’ Abrar Ahmed and Saud Shakeel were each fined 5% of their match fees because they broke the HBL PSL’s code of conduct in a Level 1 way during their team’s HBL PSL 9 match against Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Friday evening.

The rule that Abrar broke was Article 2.4 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct, which says “disobeying an umpire’s instruction during the match.” This happened in the 19th over of Islamabad United’s batting innings. While Abrar was fielding, he ignored the judges’ instructions and rolled the ball along the ground even though he was told not to.

In a different incident during the same match, Saud was found to have broken Article 2.5 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct, which says: “Using words, actions, or gestures that insult or could provoke an angry response from a batter upon being dismissed during a match.”

Once Salman Ali Agha, a hitter for United, was out in the 12th over, Saud walked up to him and said some things that might have upset the batter. Both players accepted they were guilty and agreed to the punishments by the referee, Mohammad Javed.
