PCB debuts Inter-College Ramadan T20 Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host the first Inter-College Ramadan T20 Cup in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad with 30 colleges. PCB debuts Inter-College Ramadan T20 Cup. The tournament begins in Lahore on 22 March and Islamabad and Karachi on 23 March.

The PCB hopes to promote the game among students and find future talent with this T20 tournament. Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad regional cricket associations will form an organising committee with the PCB’s approval to organize the tournament.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi: “We are excited to launch the Ramadan Inter-College T20 tournament to develop cricket potential in colleges. This contest shows our dedication to grassroots game development.

The spirit of Ramadan and the intensity of T20 cricket promise an electrifying field atmosphere. Our event encourages youngsters to flourish academically and athletically, not just in cricket.

“We aim to give young cricketers from diverse backgrounds a platform to showcase their skills and passion for the game by hosting this tournament in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.”

Director – Domestic PCB Abdullah Khurram Niazi: “As per the vision of Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi, we are organizing this tournament to increase the outreach of the game to a vast majority of students who struggle to balance cricket and their studies.

I am convinced this event will also showcase some interesting talent and allow young pupils to prove themselves on the cricket field.”

Each city will host 10 teams in the event. Two groups will be formed, with the top team playing the final. There will be 21 matches in each city and four matches per team in the pool round. Each team will feature 14 players, three reserves, and three officials.

Players born on or after September 1, 2000, can play in this Inter-Collegiate T20 event. Players must be college students to partake in the competition. PCB-selected umpires will call the games.

The winner team in each city receives PKR 500,000, while the runners-up receive PKR 250,000. The PCB selectors will also monitor player performance at the tournament venues.
