“@iMRizwanPak has been appointed vice-captain of Pakistan’s T20I team,” the PCB announced in a post. Rizwan will replace Shadab Khan in the team, serving as a deputy to skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi in the shortest format of cricket.
It should be mentioned that former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi recently preferred Rizwan for the position of captain over left-arm fast Shaheen for the T20 team, which raised many eyebrows.
Speaking at a function in Australia, Afridi showered admiration on the wicketkeeper-batsman and preferred him over. The legendary all-rounder of his period stated, “[I respect Rizwan’s] hard effort and concentration level. His strongest talent, which I like the most, is his ability to focus solely on his game and pay no attention to who is doing what or not. “He is a real fighter!”
“I wanted to see him [Rizwan] as the T20 captain, but by mistake, Shaheen became the skipper,” Afridi joked, looking at the left-arm quick sitting behind him at the event.
