One of Pakistan’s paralympians, Altaf-ur-Rehman, has brought home another medal from Turkey’s Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya. In the men’s class 4 competition, Altaf and Rasul Atamuratov of Uzbekistan teamed together to take home bronze. The Pakistani and Uzbek team took third place in their pool and thus won a medal. Altaf and Rasul, two competing athletes, each brought home a medal for their country.

Altaf, a 26-year-old from Peshawar, originally competed in class 4, which is reserved for athletes with seated balance. Altaf’s coach and manager, Umer Ali, informed Geo that Pakistan won their group by beating Algeria 3-0 but coming in third after losing to Iran and Turkey. He went on to say that the competitors from Pakistan and Uzbekistan had worked together to win the group competition and earn individual medals. Altaf’s wife Zainab Barkat is also a para-athlete; she competes in class 3 Para Table Tennis tournaments. Class 4 single men saw Altaf place fifth overall.
