The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Friday that they will host a cricket tri-series for the first time in 20 years. This came after Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with the cricket heads of South Africa and New Zealand. The national cricket governing body said in a statement that Naqvi, Cricket South Africa (CSA) Chairman Lawson Naidoo. So, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Chairman Roger Twose met and talked about the plans for the ODI tri-series between the three countries.
Pakistan to host first tri-series in 20 years
The match is set to take place in Pakistan in February 2025, just before the ICC Champions Trophy. The statement said that the host and both board members agreed with the choice to make the tri-series. Twose and Naidoo were also invited by Naqvi to visit Pakistan. “The Tri-series between Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand will be a thrilling event. Pakistan will host a tournament like this for the first time in a long time.”
He said, “I want to thank the heads of NZC and CSA for agreeing to take part in the Tri-series.” Naqvi also said the PCB is excited to host the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. He said that it would be an honour for Pakistan to have the top eight ODI teams play in its country. For PCB, they last had a tri-series in October 2004, when Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe came to play.
