Wednesday saw the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announce umpire and match referee appointments for the HBL-PSL-9 three playoffs and final, which will be contested at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi from 14-18 March.
Official PSL-9 playoff and final match officials announced
Roshan Mahanama will referee the 14 March Qualifier between table-toppers Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi. Aleem Dar and Richard Illingworth will be on-field umpires, while Rashid Riaz and Faisal Afridi will be third and fourth.
Muhammad Javed will take charge of the 15 March Eliminator 1 between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators. Ahsan Raza and Chris Gaffaney will be on-field umpires, while Asif Yaqoob and Rashid Riaz will be third and fourth.
Muhammad Javed will referee the 16th March Eliminator-2 between the 14th March loser and the 15th March winner. Richard Illingworth and Asif Yaqoob will be on-field umpires, while Ahsan Raza and Faisal Afridi will be third and fourth.
Richard Illingworth and Chris Gaffaney will be on-field umpires for the 18 March final, while Ahsan Raza and Asif Yaqoob will be third and fourth. For the final, Roshan Mahanama will command the playing control team.
Iftikhar Ahmed of Multan Sultans was fined 5% of his match fee for a Level 1 violation of the HBL PSL’s code of conduct during his team’s HBL PSL 9 match versus Quetta Gladiators at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
So, Iftikhar violated Article 2.5 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct for “using language, actions or gestures. It disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match.” Iftikhar used foul language against the dismissed batter in Quetta Gladiators’ third over. No hearing was needed because Iftikhar pleaded guilty and accepted the punishment of match referee Ali Naqvi.
On-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Richard Illingworth gave the charge.
