Malan and Hendricks’ long second-wicket stand helped the Sultans score plenty after batting first. Mir Hamza caught their skipper Mohammad Rizwan (11) lbw on the opening delivery of the third over with just 17 runs on the board. The Sultans ignored the early blow as Hendricks joined Malan in the middle to start steadily. The pair batted hard to score half-centuries at a good rate.

Dawid Malan missed Daniel Sams’ slower delivery and sent it straight to substitute fielder Irfan Khan at deep midwicket, ending their 121-run partnership. Malan scored a 41-ball 52 with four boundaries and a six. In contrast, Hendricks scored an unbroken 79 off 54 deliveries with seven boundaries and three sixes.

He added 47 runs for the third wicket with Khushdil Shah, who came in as a late cameo, in another key Sultans partnership. With 28 off 13 and four boundaries, Khushdil helped Hendricks boost the Sultans’ total. Daniel Sams and Mir Hamza took one wicket each for the Kings.
