Khaled agreed with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto’s choice to bowl first on a green field, which made opener Nishan Madushka (two) throw a catch to Mehidy Hasan at third slip at the end of the second over.
Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis put together 37 runs for the second wicket before Khaled struck again when Mendis hit Zakir Hasan at deep cover off a fast bowler’s delivery.
Khaled bowled Karunaratne with an in-swinger in the same over and got him out for 17. Mendis left the game on 16 runs. Angelo Mathews was out for only five runs by Najmul’s straight throw, which made Sri Lanka’s early start even worse.
He joined the party when Shoriful Islam got rid of Dinesh Chandimal for nine. Mehidy then made his second-morning catch from low down at leg slip.
Mahmudul Hasan dropped Kamindu on the next ball, and he finished the lesson with De Silva. When it comes to Tests, Sri Lanka has never lost to Bangladesh. Beginning on March 30, the second and last game of the series will be played in Chittagong.
