The “powerful chairman” of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the country’s richest sports body, was busy watching the PSL final at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Monday night. Concerns have been raised about whether it was fair to give one guy two such important jobs and whether Mohsin Naqvi, who is known for getting things done, will be able to handle the extra work. At the National Bank Stadium on Monday night, Naqvi talked to the Karachi media for the first time since becoming head of the PCB. The question was asked again.
When asked if he could do both jobs, Naqvi smiled and said he thought he could. He said, “Yes, I can handle both,” but he didn’t say much else. He didn’t change his answer when he was asked the same question again a few minutes later.
In fact, he wasn’t sure about most things and answered most important questions with one-liners. But he did give hints that long-term plans would be carried out, such as cutting the PCB’s staff from what he said were almost 900 to fewer.
