ICC charges eight T10 players, and officials with corruption

Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) brought charges on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) against eight players and staff for breaking different parts of the ECB’s Anti-Corruption Code.

The charges are about the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League and efforts to rig games in that league.

For this event, the ECB chose the ICC to be the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) for the ECB’s Code.

Krishan Kumar Chaudhary, Parag Sanghvi, Ashar Zaidi, Rizwan Javed, Saliya Saman, Sunny Dhillon, Nasir Hossain, and Shadab Ahamed are all charged.

Krishan Kumar Chaudhary is a co-owner of a team. Here are the charges against him:

Article 2.4.5: Failing to tell the DACO (without undue delay) all the facts about any incident, fact, or matter that comes to the knowledge of a Participant and that may be evidence of corrupt behavior by another Participant in violation of the Anti-Corruption Code.

Article 2.4.6: Failing or declining, without a good reason, to help the DACO with an investigation into possible corrupt behavior, which is a violation of the Code.

Article 2.4.7: Trying to stop or slow down a DACO review into possible corrupt behavior as outlined in the Code.

Co-owner of a team Parag Sanghvi:

Article 2.2.1: Betting on the outcome, progress, behavior, or any other part of an international or domestic match.

Article 2.4.6: Failing or declining, without a good reason, to help the DACO with an investigation into possible corrupt behavior, which is a violation of the Code.

Ashar Zaidi, the batsman’s coach:

Article 2.1.1: Trying to fix, plan, or wrongly affect matches or parts of matches during the Abu Dhabi T10 2021.

Article 2.1.4: Soliciting, inducing, luring, telling, convincing, encouraging, or helping a Participant break Article 2.1 directly or indirectly.

Article 2.4.4: Failing to tell the DACO all the details of any attempts or requests to take part in corrupt behavior that are made under the Code.

Rizwan Javed (a player at home):

Article 2.1.1: Trying to fix, plan, or wrongly affect matches or parts of matches during the Abu Dhabi T10 2021.

Article 2.1.3: Giving a Participant a Reward in exchange for that Participant acting in a corrupt way.

Article 2.1.4: Soliciting, inducing, luring, telling, persuading, supporting, or helping a Participant break Code Article 2.1 directly or indirectly.

Article 2.4.4: Failing to tell the DACO all the details of any attempts or requests to take part in corrupt behavior that are made under the Code.

Article 2.4.6: Failing or declining, without a good reason, to help the DACO with an investigation into possible corrupt behavior, which is a violation of the Code.

Saliya Saman (a player from India):

Article 2.1.1: Trying to fix, plan, or wrongly affect matches or parts of matches during the Abu Dhabi T10 2021.

Article 2.1.3: Giving a Reward to a Participant in exchange for that Participant acting in a way that is against the Code.

Article 2.1.4: Soliciting, inducing, luring, telling, persuading, supporting, or helping a Participant break Code Article 2.1 directly or indirectly.

Article 2.1.1: Trying to fix, plan, or wrongly affect matches or parts of matches during the Abu Dhabi T10 2021.

Article 2.4.4: Failing to tell the DACO all the details of any attempts or requests to take part in corrupt behavior that are made under the Code.

Article 2.4.6: Failing or declining, without a good reason, to help the DACO with an investigation into possible corrupt behavior, which is a violation of the Code.

Nasir Hossain is a player for Bangladesh.

Article 2.4.3: Not telling the DACO that you got a gift worth more than $750.

Article 2.4.4: Failing to tell the DACO all the details of any attempts or requests to take part in corrupt behavior that are made under the Code.

Article 2.4.6: Failing or declining, without a good reason, to help the DACO with an investigation into possible corrupt behavior, which is a violation of the Code.

Team boss Shadab Ahamed:

Krishan Kumar Chaudhary, Parag Sanghvi, Azhar Zaidi, Rizwan Javed, Saliya Saman, and Sunny Dhillon are the six people who have been charged. They have been temporarily banned, and they have until September 19, 2023, to answer the charges.
