Before their playoff match against Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, Quetta Gladiators got a big help.

There were personal reasons why star middle-order batter Sherfane Rutherford had to leave the team on March 9. He will return on Wednesday. The Gladiators missed Rutherford in all three of their last games, including a very important one. Rilee Russouw, who is captain and wants to take the team to their second PSL title, is glad to see him back.

After six games, Rutherford scored 151 runs at a strike rate of 148.03 in PSL 9. He has been in great shape. His great hitting was shown off in a memorable game earlier in the season against Karachi Kings.

Also, Colin Munro, the starter for Islamabad United, might not be able to play in the eliminator match against Quetta Gladiators because he hurt his hamstring.

Munro got hurt in a recent game. He is one of Islamabad’s top run scorers in the league. He might be able to play in the first eliminator, but the team’s medical staff will make the final call if Islamabad makes it to the second elimination.

In other news, Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq will not be able to play for Peshawar Zalmi in the playoffs. Naveen has left the Zalmi team to play for Afghanistan in the upcoming T20I series against Ireland. Even though he was leaving, Naveen thanked the Zalmi fans and hoped the team did well in the playoffs.
