FIFA 2022 | Despite political uncertainties, Lahore will host FIFA in 2022
Due to political unrest in Islamabad, the FIFA Trophy Tour 2022 was relocated to Lahore. “The trophy will come in Lahore on June 7, 2022, and it will be a rare opportunity for football fans to experience the sport’s most prestigious honor up close,” event organizers stated. The game will be played at the National Stadium in Lahore. Originally, Islamabad was scheduled to be the location of the event.
However, due to the political climate in the nation’s capital, the event’s organizers had to locate a new venue. Christian Karembeu, the Frenchman who won the tournament, will take the World Cup trophy to Pakistan. The trophy will stay one day in Pakistan after traveling through Uzbekistan before moving on to the next country. There will be a greeting ceremony at the airport in the morning, an event for stakeholders and sponsors in the afternoon, and a public concert in the evening. This marks the second time Pakistan has displayed the FIFA World Cup trophy. In addition, the trophy tour preceding the 2018 World Cup made a stop in the country.
