The England cricket team suffered a major setback as they reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. England opener Jason Roy was ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to injury. There was speculation that he would not be able to continue his journey in the World Cup. On the other hand, the English team has included James Vince, who was with the team as a reserve player, in the team along with the injury of Jason Roy.
England Opener Jason Roy Replaced by James Vince
England’s opening batsman Jason Roy was unfit and walked off the field while batting in his last group match against South Africa during the T20 World Cup. Jason Roy expressed his feelings and said:
“I’m gutted to be ruled out of the World Cup. It is a bitter pill to swallow.
“I will be staying on to support the boys, and hopefully, we can go all the way and lift that trophy. It has been an unbelievable journey so far, and we have to continue expressing ourselves and concentrating on ourselves.
“The rehab has already started, and even though I’ve torn my calf, I’m going to give myself the best chance of being ready for the T20 tour of the Caribbean at the start of next year.”
All-rounder Moeen Ali said:
“It is a massive blow, not just because of the way he bats but also because of what he brings to the field, and around the boys.
It is clear that England has suffered a second blow in the mega event. Before that fast bowler Tamil Mills has also been unfit and out of the World Cup. Timel Mills suffered a hamstring injury in the group match against the Lincoln Tigers. This increases the chances of the other teams winning against England.
