The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has notified that fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr. would miss the T20 Asia Cup due to a left-side strain. He damaged himself on Wednesday while bowling for Pakistan in practice. The bowler was examined by the team’s medical personnel, and an MRI scan in Dubai confirmed the diagnosis. Wasim’s rehabilitation will be constantly monitored by the medical team. And his ability to play competitive cricket will be assessed again before England’s visit to Pakistan.
Hasan Ali, Wasim’s replacement, is currently awaiting permission from the Event Technical Committee. Also, he will depart for the UAE as soon as the ETC confirms his availability as a replacement player. Therefore, the team management asked Hasan to join the team as a replacement player, and the chief selector consented. Also, he has been practising his bowling at the National High-Performance Centre for three weeks. Plus, he is now in Rawalpindi preparing for the National T20, which begins on August 30.
“Therefore, the findings were discussed with the PCB Medical Advisory Committee, while an independent review by a specialist physiotherapist was also sought,” the cricket board said in a brief statement.
The 15th Asia Cup is about to start. So, the United Arab Emirates will host Twenty20 Internationals in August and September of that year. So, the competition, which was supposed to happen in September 2020, had to be moved because of COVID-19. The event, on the other hand, has been moved to July 2020. In 2022, the Asia Cup will be in Sri Lanka.
