The tournament will start with a match between England and New Zealand, who were the winners of the previous tournament. However, it was recently announced that there will be no opening ceremony for this prestigious event.
Usually, there is one for big tournaments. Renowned Bollywood stars like Ranveer Singh, Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shreyas Ghoshal, and Asha Bhosle were supposed to attend the event. For the start of the 2023 World Cup in India, there were also plans for fireworks and a light show.
The opening ceremony with lots of famous people was set to begin at 7 PM IST, right after the Captains’ Day event at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Captains’ Day event is still going as planned, and there has been no official word about canceling the opening ceremony.
The leaders’ Day will take place in Ahmedabad, and all ten leaders will be there, including India’s Rohit Sharma. Three days later, in Chennai, Team India will play their first game in the event. They will be up against Australia, who has won the World Cup five times and is trying to win a sixth one.
On October 14, India and Pakistan will play in one of the most anticipated games of the event. It will take place in Ahmedabad.
India’s team was in great shape at the Asia Cup, which just ended. They beat Sri Lanka to win and become winners. In addition, they kept their winning run going by beating Australia 2-1 in the first of a three-match series at home.
In contrast, the Pakistani team did poorly in the Asia Cup, and there have been rumors that some of their top players are having problems with each other.
