Zimbabwe players were fined 10% of their match money for a slow-over pace in their previous T20I against Afghanistan in Harare. Afghanistan won the low-scoring match by three wickets.
On-field umpires Iknow Chabi and Forster Mutizwa, third umpire Percival Sizara, and fourth umpire Langton Rusere made the charges. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza pled guilty and accepted Emirates ICC Elite Panel Match Referee Andy Pycroft’s punishment.
Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel penalizes players 5% of their match fee for every over they fail to bowl in time.
Zimbabwe are hosting Afghanistan for an all-format trip that began with a three-T20I series. The hosts won the first match, but the visitors won the series with consecutive wins. The two teams will play three ODIs and two Tests.
