Zaman Anwar wins silver in CWG freestyle 125 kilograms
The wrestling competition at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 brought Pakistan its second Silver medal. After falling to Amarveer Dhesi of Canada in the Men’s Freestyle 125 kg final on Friday, wrestler Zaman Anwar took home the silver medal. Amarveer prevailed by a score of 2-9 in a thrilling match between the two wrestlers. Zaman faced Mandhir Kooner in the semifinals of the tournament. As a result of Zaman Anwar’s win, Pakistan now has five medals in the present games.
Currently, the country has one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals to its name at the Olympics. In the Men’s Freestyle 86 Kg Wrestling event, Inam Butt won a silver medal. In the 65 kg Men’s Free Style Wrestling event, Inayat Ullah defeated Scotland’s Ross Connelly and took home a bronze medal. In weightlifting, Noah Dastagir Butt earned a gold medal for his country. Defeating fellow South African Thomas-Laszlo Breytenbach in the 90 kg category, Shah Hussain Shah took home bronze in Judo.
