Younis Khan, the former captain of the national cricket team, admitted that it was his mistake to leave the captaincy of the team after winning the T20 World Cup in 2009. Former captain Younis, who won the only T20 World Cup for the national team in the excitement of ARY’s sports program, said that there were many differences between the team that won in 2009, and no senior player liked to talk to each other. He said that the national team was going through a terrible failure. After losing the final to India in the T20 World Cup in 2007 his hopes died. Younis Khan admitted that his decision to retire immediately after the World Cup was wrong which led to team grouping.
Referring to his past, Younis Khan said,
“We belonged to a middle class family. I wanted to give such performances for Pakistan that the audience would remember me.”
He said that when he was selected for the national team, his father explained that there is nothing wrong with him. You are the ambassador of the country. It may be recalled that Younis Khan has represented Pakistan in 25 T20 cricket Internationals in which he has scored 442 runs at an average of 22.
