The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium witnessed an unexpected result when the Thai women’s team defeated a Pakistani squad captained by Bismah Maroof by four wickets in the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup (SICS).

Pakistan’s bowlers restricted Thailand’s hitters as they chased a manageable 117-run target, but Thailand eventually won the match by securing the win in the last over. When they needed 16 runs in two overs, Nida Dar bowled an economical over, allowing only six runs, and claiming the prized scalp of Natthakan Chantham. She had top-scored with 61 off 51 balls (five fours and two sixes).

With four wickets remaining and ten runs still needed, Rosenan Kanoh hit Diana for a four on the second ball of the final over to seal the victory. Nida and two took two wickets by Tuba Hasan; one was taken by Nashra Sandhu and one by Kainat Imtiaz. Sidra Amin, who won the toss and elected to bat first, continued her fine tournament form by scoring the highest run total with 56 runs off 64 balls, including six fours. Pakistan scored 116 for five after 20 overs on a slow and low track. Tomorrow at SICS, Pakistan will play its longtime rival, India.
