The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named former first-class cricketer Shahid Aslam as the men’s cricket team’s batting coach days before the Zimbabwe tour.
Tuesday’s PCB official confirmed Aslam will be the national team’s full-time batting coach. The official also said Pakistan would soon hire a spin bowling coach as the board was looking for one.
The development comes when Pakistan’s cricket performance has been poor. The just finished T20 international series against Australia, which Pakistan lost 3-0, is especially painful because of its memories.
Aslam was nominated by newly hired interim white-ball head coach Aqib Javed, sources said. Green Shirt support staff member Aslam has worked for years. He will start with a white-ball tour of Zimbabwe before touring South Africa.
Pakistan and Zimbabwe will play their first ODI on Sunday, November 24.
