On Monday, legendary pacer Wasim Akram predicted that Pakistan would defeat India in a spinning Test series. The pacer made the comments during the first ODI of the three-match series between Pakistan and Australia, where the panel examined the countries’ different fortunes.
While commentating on the match with Wasim, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan voiced his desire to see the fierce rivals play a Test series. Wasim replied it would benefit the sport.
“It will be huge. Wasim: It will benefit the game and two cricket-crazy nations.
As the conversation continued, Vaughan said Pakistan can win India.
“Pakistan can now beat India on the turners,” Vaughan added.
Wasim Akram supported Vaughan and noted India’s home Test series whitewash against New Zealand.
“Pakistan can beat India in Tests on a spinning track. Wasim said New Zealand beat them 3-0 at home.
Remember Pakistan’s spin-heavy comeback to win the three-match Test series against England last month. After losing to England in the opener, Pakistan rested Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Pakistan won their first home Test series since 2021 when spinners Sajid Khan and Noman Ali grabbed 39 of 40 wickets in the next two Tests. India lost their first 3-0 home Test series whitewash on Sunday as New Zealand exploited their tackling spin weakness.
