This has started when many talented and famous athletes have come out honestly regarding their sexuality. Former member of the national women’s rugby team, Airi Murakami came out about her sexuality and she told that she is in a same-sex relationship. She further stated:
Murakami said:
“I had lived my life worried about what others think but I was saved by a community who accepted me for who I am,”
“Now that my doubts are gone I too want to use my voice and help others,”
Japan’s top-flight in women’s soccer league, Yu Oshima also revealed his sexuality as a transgender man. He states this in his statement:
“It would be great if I get to express thanks to my family and friends who have always supported me, and prove that people like me exist, in a place that celebrates our differences.”
