In a message sent to the Pakistan cricket team on Saturday, Donald Blome, the US ambassador to Pakistan, wished them a fantastic tournament in anticipation of today’s Twenty20 (T20) World Cup 2024.

Ambassador Blome sent best wishes to skipper Babar Azam and his squad for an unforgettable tournament in a video message posted on the official X account of the US embassy in Pakistan. The message was made on behalf of the US mission in Pakistan.

Twenty teams will compete for the prestigious title at the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup, which the envoy’s country is co-hosting with the West Indies. After a recent 2-0 loss in a four-match Twenty20 series against England, the Pakistani squad will face the hosts United States in Dallas on June 6 to kick off their World Cup trip.

On June 9, the Green Shirts will take on their bitter rivals India in New York. Then, on June 11, they’ll face Canada, and on June 16, they’ll face Ireland.

Observing Pakistan’s love of cricket, the envoy added in his video message: “A love of sports is something that our countries share.”
