On Friday, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) announced that New Zealand batting all-rounder Daryl Mitchell had entered the 10 player draft.
“New Zealand’s powerhouse, Daryl Mitchell has officially signed up for the HBL PSL Draft,” the PSL announced on social media. Mitchell, a fixture for New Zealand across formats, is in their team for the three-match home T20I series starting Saturday.
The all-rounder has scored 4932 runs in 31 Tests, 39 ODIs, and 67 T20Is for New Zealand, with 11 hundreds and 26 fifties. Mitchell has yet to play in PSL. He played two seasons in the lucrative IPL and England’s Vitality Blast.
Daryl Mitchell is the 10th foreign player to sign up for the marquee league’s 10th edition, joining Australia’s Alex Carey and Usman Khawaja, England’s Tom Curran, David Willey, Dawid Malan, and Jason Roy, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza.
Gwadar will host the first Balochistan player draft on January 11, 2025.
Two-time winners Lahore Qalandars pick first in the platinum category’s first round, followed by archrivals Karachi Kings. Quetta Gladiators, 2019 champions, will pick third and Peshawar Zalmi fourth. Sultans, last season’s runners-up, and United, the champions, will pick fifth and sixth.
