Shami will replace Bumrah as India’s fast bowler. On Friday, the Indian cricket board announced that red ball specialist Mohammad Shami would replace the injured Jasprit Bumrah at the next T20 World Cup in Australia. Bumrah’s early retirement due to a back ailment was a significant setback for cricket superpower India’s aspirations in the tournament’s showcase event.

With only 17 ODI appearances under his belt, standby seamer Mohammed Shami was recently ruled out of the home T20 series against Australia due to a case of COVID. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced, “Shami has reached Australia and will meet up with the squad in Brisbane ahead of the warm-up matches.” On October 23, India will open their World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan in Melbourne.

Next week, India will play Australia and New Zealand in practice matches before the tournament begins. The team hasn’t been able to win a major tournament since the Champions Trophy in 2013, and their bowling assault has been tiring in the closing overs of previous games.

Top all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is out with a knee injury, so Rohit Sharma and I will also be without him. The BCCI has announced that Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur will act as substitutes.
