Shaheen Afridi replaced by Mohammad Hasnain for Asia Cup 2022
After speed star Shaheen Shah Afridi got hurt and had to drop out of the ACC T20 Asia Cup, Pakistan chose Mohammad Hasnain to replace him on the team. On August 28, Pakistan will play India in its first Asia Cup game. Therefore, the Pakistan team was counting on pace bowler Shaheen for the 2022 Asia Cup because of how fast he throws the ball. But he hurt himself and couldn’t go to the event. Also, Shaheen tore a ligament in his right knee while playing defence in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle last month. Thus, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that Shaheen has been told to rest for four to six weeks based on recent scans and reports.
The board said that the pacer is usually a key part of Pakistan’s bowling attack. So he would not be playing in the ACC T20 Asia Cup or the home series against England. Hasnain will join the team. He comes from the UK, where he plays for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred. Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Usman Qadir, on the other hand, will fly to Dubai early Tuesday morning.
Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Haris, Salman Ali Agha, and Zahid Mehmood will not be on the 16-person ODI team that played the Dutch. Pakistan’s first Group A game is on August 28 against India in Dubai. On September 2, they play a qualifying team in Sharjah (the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Singapore, or Hong Kong). The Super Four contests will take place from September 3 to September 9. Pakistan has chosen their team for the upcoming Asia Cup.
