Shadab Khan supports Babar Azam’s T20 World Cup leadership
Pakistan’s vice-captain, Shadab Khan, has expressed complete trust in Babar Azam’s leadership ahead of the Men in Green’s final warmup match before the T20 World Cup 2022. In his column for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) website, Shadab stated that the team is eager to exact revenge on their captain in the upcoming games.
Shadab added that Babar has fully supported all -his team members, so it is now up to them to deliver. Pakistan is in New Zealand for a tri-series with the Kiwis and Bangladesh. On October 7, the Green Shirts will face Bangladesh in the first game of the tri-nation series.
“In my previous column, I wrote about Babar Azam’s leadership. This man is incredible: the more I play with him, the more I learn about the man, and the more I admire him!”
“The way this 27-year-old — relatively new to the leadership role, has handled relentless pressure. Also, sometimes unfair criticism while ensuring his performance doesn’t slip — is simply mindboggling. He has stood like a rock for his players and fully backed them.”
“This is the hallmark of a leader, how you earn respect from your players, and how you develop your team,” he said.
“We need to justify Babar’s faith in our talent, credentials and skills. To make our captain stand tall and be proud, we must convert our potential into performances.”
“I stand firmly with Babar and believe we have what is required to perform strongly in New Zealand and Australia. We just need a couple of confidence and morale-boosting performances, and all pieces will be in their places,” he wrote.
