Rohit Sharma Sets Sights on ICC World Cup 2027 Glory

Commenting on the possibilities of playing the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, India’s longer forms skipper Rohit Sharma on Monday said he will keep “all options open.”

Following his side to the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy success on Sunday, Rohit, who became only the second Indian captain to win multiple ICC titles, said it was difficult to confirm his involvement in the forthcoming 50-over mega event and would evaluate his form and fitness before deciding. Though I am keeping all my options open, it is somewhat difficult to say right now. I would like to know how I’m performing.

Right now, I’m liking everything I’m doing with this team and I’m playing very, quite well. It’s good that the crew is appreciating my company as well.

“I keep all my options open; I can’t really say about 2027 since it’s too far.”

Rohit shrugged off retirement rumours earlier on Sunday during the Champions Trophy final press conference against New Zealand.

Right-handed opener remarked, “I’m not retiring from this format…make sure no rumours are spread.”

Along with fellow senior Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma had called time on his T20I career after guiding India to its second T20 World Cup last year in West Indies and the United States of America (USA).

Consequently, rumours abound that, following India’s victory over New Zealand to secure the Champions Trophy 2025 unless the Indian captain announced otherwise, the top pair of Rohit and Kohli will do similar.
