Young Indian hitter Tilak Varma scored 72* in India’s thrilling two-wicket win over England in the second T20I at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. In 55 balls, the 22-year-old hammered four boundaries and five sixes to anchor India’s 166-run chase.
His outstanding performance earned him Player of the Match, another T20I milestone. The left-handed batsman became the first full-member nation player to score 300+ T20I runs without being removed with 72. Over his last four T20I innings, Tilak has scored 107* (56 balls), 120* (47 balls), 19*, and 72* for 318 runs.

India won by two wickets in 19.2 overs. Despite Tilak’s renown, England’s Brydon Carse surrendered 29 runs in three overs. The match was close because Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Adil Rashid, Jamie Overton, and Liam Livingstone all took wickets.
