After Green Shirts’ poor performance and elimination from the T20 World Cup 2024, Mohsin Naqvi’s board made changes to the squad management. The board fired former pacer Wahab Riaz and ex-allrounder Abdul Razzaq from the seven-member selection committee a day earlier, keeping Yousuf, Shafiq, and Bilal Afzal.
Razzaq was on both men’s and women’s selection committees, while Wahab was on the men’s. The board also replaced Riaz as senior team manager and Rana Mansoor as team manager due to the men’s squad’s lack of discipline throughout the last three tours. According to sources, Wahab and Razzaq allegedly favoured particular players, and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi fired them after the probe.
Players supported by the duo didn’t perform and were opposed by other selection committee members, sources said. After his expulsion, the former pacer wondered how one vote could outweigh six on a seven-person selection committee. He highlighted that the meeting minutes recorded everything.
