PCB Boosts Security After Pitch Invasion

Following a spectator invading the field during the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 game between Bangladesh and New Zealand at the Pindi Cricket Stadium here on Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced to boost security.

After the 27th over of New Zealand’s innings, a spectator carrying a picture invaded the field and aggressively sought to hug Rachin Ravindra, who clearly tried to keep him away from the person.

The security guards then followed the pitch invader down and quickly escorted him off the field. In an official statement, the PCB said later today that the person was detained and before the court.

While PCB promised to boost the security staff around the field at all of the Champions Trophy 2025 locations, he has also been barred from attending any cricket stadiums in the nation, in an attempt to “ensure the safety” of players and officials.

The cricket board said in a statement, “The PCB has taken serious note of the security lapse that happened yesterday when a spectator approached the field of play.

“Our first concern still is keeping officials and players safe. Being a responsible company, we have interacted with local security organizations who have promised to boost access control policies and add more security staff members around all venues.

“The person engaged was arrested and before a court of law today, Tuesday.” Furthermore, he has been permanently barred from visiting every cricket ground in Pakistan.

“The PCB is closely reviewing and strengthening security procedures with venue authorities and security agencies to help to prevent such events in the future.”
