Dave Musker, Safety and Security Manager of the International Cricket Council (ICC), commended the Pakistani government’s preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025, whose country’s leg was ended during the second semi-final match between South Africa and New Zealand.
Musker complimented Pakistani police, Rangers, and army for guaranteeing perfect security plans for the teams and ICC staff on his opinions on the eight-team competition. He stated his opinions before the second semi-final held at Gaddafi Stadium and the security agencies gave complete cooperation during the competition.
He revealed that some teams have expressed doubts about visiting Pakistan prior to the start of the flagship event.
ICC manager
The ICC manager remarked, “This has been a great tournament,” adding that it will show a very good picture of Pakistan, its people, and its security agencies worldwide.
Under a hybrid arrangement decided upon with India, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) effectively hosted the ICC’s event, which took off on February 19 and included a total of 15 matches in the reconstructed home stadiums and in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Citing security issues, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) turned against sending its national men’s squad to Pakistan just months before the competition started.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reacted angrily to the BCCI’s denial, leading to a protracted standoff between the two cricketing authorities.
Thus, the last match of the tournament will take place on a neutral location, Dubai, between India and New Zealand on March 9, thereby concluding the ICC event, which Pakistan hosts for the first time in almost three decades.
The Men in Green, who were also defending champions of the title, did not make an impression either since they were ousted without even making it to semi-finals after consecutive group match losses.
Following two losses and their last game against Bangladesh, Pakistan, who played in Group A alongside India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, completed their trip with dismal numbers staying on last on the points table.
