Sadpara was on a regular training trip in his village when he lost his balance and fell off the mountain, according to Karar Haideri, secretary of the Pakistani Alpine Club. Sadpara had hoped to summit K2, Pakistan’s highest peak, this season. Thus this was the only eight-thousander he had yet to conquer Pakistan. Plus He is the only person to have summited Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, and Nanga Parbat 17 times. No one from Pakistan has ever climbed a mountain higher than 8,000 metres.

Sadpara had attempted to climb K2 twice before, but the weather had made it impossible. Sirbaz is currently in Nepal, on his way to climb Mt. Makalu, the world’s fifth-highest peak, which will be his 11th 8000m peak. Ali Raza, a Pakistani mountaineer, also stated that he has worked for Pakistan. He has more 8000-meter peaks with the Pakistani flag than anyone else.

“He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors have confirmed that his ribs and backbone have received serious injuries,” he said.

“I just got to know that our dearest Apo Ali Raza, the legendary Pakistani Mountaineer had an accident and got severe injuries. Apo Ali is hospitalized now and will be going through surgery. I request your prayers for my ustad, the legendary Pakistani Mountaineer, Ali Raza Sadpara,” Sirbaz said on his Instagram.

“He has trained a whole generation of Mountaineers. We call him ‘ustaado ka ustaad’,” Sirbaz added.
